Accessible Information Standard

We want to get better at communicating with our patients and ensure you can read and understand the information we send you. If you find it hard to read our letters or if you need someone to support you at appointments, please let our practice staff know.

Accessible Information Standard

The Accessible Information Standard aims to ensure that disabled people have access to information they can understand and the communication support they may need. The Standard applies to service providers across the NHS and adult social care system. As organisations that provide NHS services, GP practices are required by law to follow the Standard under Section 250 of the Health and Social Care Act.

Please inform us of any accessibility requirements you have, alongside your other details, as this will help us to make sure we get things right for you.

  • Our surgery is accessible to patients using a wheelchair. Patients displaying a disabled sticker are able to park on the yellow lines outside the surgery.
  • Our premises, including the patients' toilet, are accessible to patients in wheelchairs. There is a lift at our Purley Surgery that can be used to access all floors. At Coulsdon, we have some clinical rooms upstairs. If you are unable to go up the stairs, please inform a Receptionist and they will provide a room downstairs for your appointment.
  • We can arrange interpretation and translation services in person or by phone for patients who do not speak English. Please let us know if you need this service when booking an appointment.
  • We can also arrange a British Sign Language interperter (BSL)
  • We have a loop induction system at Reception to assist the hearing impaired. For more information on the loop hearing system visit the Hearing Link website
  • Guide dogs are welcome at the Practice but we ask that you be aware of other patients and staff who may have an allergy or fear of dogs.
