Improvements to Online Triage
At Woodcote Medical, we're always looking for ways to make it easier for patients to get the help they need. Many patients told us that online requests could sometimes feel lengthy, confusing, or ask questions that weren't relevant to their specific problem. We've listened to that feedback and we're pleased to announce a major upgrade to the Anima questionnaires.
What's Changed?
Smarter Questions, Less Form Filling: Instead of searching through questionnaires or completing long generic forms, you can now simply describe your problem in your own words. You will then typically be asked around 6 to 7 targeted questions needed for that specific issue.
Fewer Incorrect Submissions: Patients often told us they were unsure which questionnaire to choose. This upgrade removes that uncertainty by selecting the most appropriate pathway based on the problem described.
Better Information for Clinicians: The upgrade also helps ensure that requests contain clearer and more structured information. This makes it easier for our clinical team to review requests and make sure patients receive the most appropriate care faster.

Book your appointments via the NHS App
You can now use the NHS App to book and manage your appointments with us. This means that rather than using Anima through our website, you can send your Anima request via the NHS App, where you can also track hospital referrals, order repeat prescriptions and view upcoming or past care details in one secure place.
Other ways of contacting us remain available. If you cannot use the NHS App or our website, please call us or visit reception, and our team will be happy to help you.

Join our PPG to make a difference
Woodcote Medical has an active Patient Participation Group (PPG), open to all registered patients. By joining, you'll meet with practice staff 2-3 times a year to share your feedback on how the practice operates. This is your chance to highlight what's working well and suggest improvements that will benefit all patients.
If you'd like to find out more or join, please email patientgroupwm@gmail.com and the PPG will be in touch.
Please note: this email address is for communication with the PPG only. No medical information should be shared as it will not be received by the practice.
Providing Safe, Effective Care for All
To ensure we can provide safe and timely care for all our patients, it is important that responsibilities are shared appropriately between the practice and patients.
Our surgery submits between 30 and 40 referrals every day. We closely monitor all urgent 2WW (2 week-wait) referrals, as these involve patients who may be at higher risk of serious illness. Every urgent referral is logged, tracked, and followed up to ensure patients are seen promptly and that no referral is missed. To support this, we have a dedicated administrator whose role is to monitor and chase 2WW referrals as part of our clinical safety-netting process.
Due to the high volume of referrals we process, we are not able to routinely follow up non-urgent referrals on behalf of patients. Therefore, if you are referred for a non-urgent appointment, we recommend that you monitor the progress of your referral through the NHS App. If you have not heard from the receiving service within the expected timeframe, please contact the hospital directly to chase.
