Social Prescribing Service

Woodcote Medical is keen to support our patients in living healthy and happy lives. Therefore, we promote social prescribing as a way of linking our patients with other services that may help them.

We have a Social Prescriber, called Stephanie, and appointments can be made directly via Reception.

What is Social Prescribing?

Social prescribing connects people with a range of non-clinical programmes, services and events in their local community – like walking groups, mental health counselling, debt management advice, employability skills, volunteering, family fitness, healthy cooking programmes and mindfulness.

A service that goes beyond the GP's prescription pad

It seeks to address people’s needs across a number of areas such as physical activity, diet and nutrition, mental health and social support. It is often referred to as a ‘more than medicine’ approach to health and wellbeing.
